One of my gorgeous friends was lovely enough to share this unbelievably simple and completely delicious banana oat cookie recipe.
Using only three ingredients; banana, oats and cinnamon, these gorgeous cookies are not only simple to prepare but super duper healthy.
I really wanted to share this recipe because I’ve received quite a few requests from mama’s looking for easy-to-eat, non-messy snacks for bubs on-the-go and these lovely little cookies are just that! Chock full of banana and oats these cookies are a fabulously healthy snack to be nestled in the lunchbox.
I am also really excited about these cookies because they’re infinitely adaptable. I can’t wait to get creative and whip up batches with sultanas, coconut, dried apricots or perhaps a few cheeky chocolate chips.
To create these lovely little banana oat babies simply…
Begin by placing the banana in a mixing bowl and mash using a fork. Add the oats and cinnamon and mix to combine.
Take tablespoon amounts of the mixture, shape into small balls and place on an oven biscuit tray lined with baking paper.
Pop into a preheated 180 degree celisus (350 F) oven to bake for 15-20 minutes or until the cookies are cooked and golden.
Transfer the cookies to a wire rack to cool completely. Serve the banana oat cookies alongside a little fresh fruit.

I have been making these for my 1yr old for couple weeks. Absolutely loves them but today I have made too many for him to eat. Can I freeze them???
mylovelylittlelunchbox says
Sorry for my delayed reply. I haven’t tested freezing these cookies (they disappear way too quickly at our house). That said, I don’t think the texture would quite be the same once defrosted so I am thinking no. But if you did give it a try, please let me know. I would love to know how they went!!! X

Did you use instant/quick cook or old fashioned oats, or would the recipe work with either one?
mylovelylittlelunchbox says
I use old fashioned oats, they are the perfect texture. Happy cooking! X

hi, I’m loving your recipe but I’m new to cooking with oats, so want to ask if the texture of these cookies is ok for my 10 months old to chew with his gums?? or i should use some finer variety of oats or just grind them before use? thank you.

So good! have you frozen these?

I haven’t tried freezing these little babies. They seem to vanish WAY too quickly around here hehehe. Next time I bake a batch though I’ll test a few in the deep freeze to see how they go. Sorry I can’t give you an answer. Happy cooking xxx

Hi there, are these quite hard in texture? I wondered if they’d be too chewy for a baby with no teeth!

Would these work with steel cut oats?

Love this idea, are old fashioned oats just the same as porridge oats that you buy in the bag? Not like instant porridge or are they something different? X
mylovelylittlelunchbox says
Yes old fashioned oats are just the same. Happy cooking x

Hi, love ur simple and healthy baby recipes which inspires me to bake for baby! Just to check, I’m going for a short overseas trip. So wondering if I can make these cookies as well as the muffin recipes and bring them on the trip. Will they last in a zip lock bag or airtight container in room temperature for a few days?

Lovely recipe and super easy to make! I made them yesterday and my baby loved them! Are they supposed to be soft and chewy inside? They do not break in small crumbles easily.. Since my baby is not very experienced with finger food I am a bit stressed and watch him closely, because he is getting big chunks in his mouth.. Any idea how long I can keep these in a refrigerator or room temp? Thank you!
happy mum says
How long do they keep for if not eaten right away please? X
