To make your own Christmas Brownies follow these simple steps…
Begin by preheating your oven to 175 C (350 F) and line a 20 cm x 20 cm square tin with baking paper. Grease the baking paper with a little butter. Set aside.
Place the dark chocolate and butter into a bowl and place over a saucepan of simmering water. Do not let the bottom of the bowl touch the water. Stir the mixture until melted. Take off heat and allow to cool for 5 minutes.
Alternatively, you can melt the butter and chocolate in a microwave at medium heat in 15 second intervals (stirring in between) until melted and combined.
Add the sugar, eggs and vanilla and whisk to combine.
Add the plain flour and salt and whisk to combine.
Pour the luscious batter into the prepared tin and bake for 25-30 minutes or until set and when a skewer inserted removes cleanly. Allow to cool completely in the tin.
Once completely cool – cut into 16 bars, drizzle with melted dark chocolate and scatter over a handful of crushed candy canes. Enjoy x
