Nothing is better on a hot summer’s morning than a little fresh fruit and smoothie for breakfast.
My little ones are obsessed with smoothie’s and it easy to see why. They’re icy cold, full of delicious fruit, sweetened with a drizzle of honey and can be enjoyed on-the-go.
Most mornings we throw whatever fruit we have on hand into our smoothie (watermelon and mango is one of our summertime favourites) along with yoghurt, milk and honey and blitz until beautifully smooth. This raspberry and banana version is made even more delicious by using frozen fruit. The moment our fruit begins to look a little tired, I slice it up and drop it into freezer bags ready to be blended into a smoothie. Not only does this reduce food waste but the frozen fruit creates the most luscious icy smoothie texture that the kids love on a hot humid morning.
Totally refreshing, completely delicious and utterly nutritious – what is there not to love?
To create your own raspberry & banana breakfast smoothies simply…
Begin by placing the raspberries, banana, yoghurt and milk into the blender.
Don’t forget to add a good squeeze of honey.
Blend until beautifully smooth and perfectly pink.
Miss G. was impressed with the colour…like most little girls, she is obsessed with pink.
Pour the smoothies into drinking containers with straws and enjoy.
